Amber Heard has been found guilty on all counts and has to pay $15 million on all damages.
In case you have been living under a rock, the defamation lawsuit was brought on by her ex-husband, Johnny Depp who sued for an op-ed about domestic violence allegations. The op-ed posted in the Washington Post did not mention Depp by name but considering the fact Heard filed for divorce and a restraining order… it was very clear to whom she was referring. Since the article’s release, Depp has stated a significant loss in revenue and reputation following his dismissal from both Disney and WB studios.
After closing arguments on Friday, the verdict was delivered today following 12 hours of deliberations and the Memorial Day holiday. The jury also sided with Amber’s counterclaim and have awarded her $2 million.
Needless to say, I’m glad this mess is over with. So many other things going on that deserved our attention. The fact that 2 very toxic people have been pit in front of the world to see diminishes and invalidates the voiceless survivors of domestic violence.
But my biggest problem is the fact that the same folks who threw Johnny under the bus are now ready to crucify Amber Heard. It’s this kind of clout chasing and ship jumping that irritates me. I don’t want to get up here and say that I side with either actor but what is apparent is that both of them could benefit from some serious therapy.
