What are you most proud of in your life?
This kid not only makes me proud but she inspires me to be better. And it’s not to simply be a better mother, because Lord knows I can always find room to improve in that department. No, it’s the fact of her making me want to do better for myself in all facets of my life

I realized a while back that a healthy parent unlike what I was accustomed, doesn’t try to hold you back and they definitely don’t hold disdain when you do better than them. A healthy parent will sometimes emulate their kids in the way that they are fearless. Sadly enough our own fear of failure can bleed out onto them making them feel “less than” for lack of a better word. We even invalidate their experiences not on purpose but because we forget how to see the world through young eyes. Our worldviews have been tainted by so much bullshit, we often forget that we need to be more understanding and less overbearing. As generations evolve and are more self-aware, we often get stuck in a time loop of our own shit. It’s usually not on purpose unless one or both of your parents are narcissists.
That being said, it’s taken some therapy and self accountability but I’ve learned to take not only hints from my kid but advice. Now that she’s grown, I realize she’s actually pretty smart even if I’ve shielded her a bit over the years.
That aside… I’m proud of her and whether she knows it or not… she’s gonna go far in life. She’s headstrong and capable. And though her being here was completely unplanned… she is by far the one thing I did right in this world.

Until Next Time Kiddies,
Shalom
