I was going to post this on Instagram but I figured since I hadn’t updated my page and I tend to be less forward here, it was best suited for the Home of The Drunken Insomniac Writer. I think all folks love choosing sides. Are you liberal or conservative? Pro-Israel or Pro-Palestine? It’s like there is no room for both. You’re a Zionist if you support Israel and a Terrorist if you support the latter.
But in this lies the problem. Most folks on either side of an argument feel that they are right. So either side must push narratives and on top of that convince others to blindly follow said narratives. So much they would kill or die for it. I think that’s the issue with religion and its self-righteousness despite my faith. I feel that you can have an idea or faith but religion closes you off and to quote Rufus (Dogma): “It’s not about who’s right or wrong. No denomination’s nailed it yet, because they’re all too self-righteous to realize that it doesn’t matter what you have faith in, just that you have faith. Your hearts are in the right place, but your brains gotta to wake up.”
Now I’ve always had my opinions on the conflicts abroad. Honestly I think both sides are foolishly full of pride and have been for centuries. I made mention that until both sides realize that their constant conflict means that they play into the hands of “big Brother” they will be pawns. If they unite, they become a superpower. That means trouble for the West.
That aside, freedom of speech should never be compromised or silenced. I don’t mind celebs using their voice to spread awareness to causes but I take careful heed because look just how influencers can sway the minds of the many… case in point the COVID vaccine.
How does this relate to Melissa Berrara…
After hearing news about her being fired by Spyglass Media for her posts on Instagram, I decided to take a look on her stories. The actress had been very much vocal regarding the conflict between Israel and Palestine. While I did not find anything specifically anti-Semitic, I saw that she has been opposed to the Palestinian casualties due to the bombings.
I myself had been more or less quiet in the subject, but I’ve been appalled by the senseless deaths. Yes I understand that is how war works… but does that mean I have to support it? No. Call Rose Lennon King Jr in that case. I find it sad that those taking either side have been nothing but eager to justify bloodshed and bigotry.
Wanting to end the war and death does not make you antisemitic nor does it make you Islamophobic.
It just means you want it to end.
Empathy for one side or the other doesn’t mean you support any radicalism or terrorism… it just means you want fucking peace.
As far as Scream 7…? Scream 6 concluded Wes Craven’s vision well. With the director stepping down and Jenny Ortega busy with other projects, I must say good bye. Honestly even if it means never seeing Sydney return or my conspiracy theory of Stu Macher being alive… so be it.

Until Next Time Kiddies,
Shalom
